Funeral Services for William Alfred (Alf) Smith, retired textile emplloye and resident of 14 Lincoln Street, will be Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Brandon Baptist Church. The Rev. Boyd Turner and the Rev. O.B. Graham will officiate. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
Pallbears will meet at the home at 3:30 as follows: Ernest Williams, Frank Poston, Bill McCall, Walter McCall, Glenn Baldwin, Eulas Thurston.
The escort of honor will meet at thechurchat 3:30 as follows: H.M. Byrd, Crowly Singleton, Jess Evans, Cecil Green, Grover Green and Bartow Hendrix.
Flowerbearers will be Misses Ruby Smith, Betty Smith, Jeanett McCall, Norma Jean Turner, Frances Hendrix, and O(?__) Hendrix.
Mr. Smith had been in declining health during the past year with his condition becoming serious a week ago. He died at his home at 8:35 o'clock Sunday night.
He was a native of Spartanburg County, being reard in the Welford Community. His parents were the late Hayward and Annie Blackwell Smith.
Mr. Smith was twice married. His first marriage was to Miss Janie Rigdon who died 11 years ago. From this union the following children survive: Mrs. Ted Galloway, Mrs Ada Gillespie, J. D. Smith and Frank Smith of Greenville. His second marriage was to Miss Omie Gregory who survives him. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Oliver of ____ and Mrs. Lula Alman of Spartangburg, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pendinging this hour of services, the body will remain at the home. R.D. Jones (& Sons) mortician.

Mrs. Janie Smith , 53, wife of W.A. Smith of 18 Vance Street, West Greenville, died in a local hospital at 8:45 o'clock last night following an illness of 5 days.
Mrs. Smith had resided in Greenville for the past 40 years and had many friends here who will regret to learn of her death. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Gallaway, and Mrs. James Gillespie of Greenville, two sons, J.D. Smith and Frank Smith, of Greenville and six grandchildren.
Announcements concerning the funeral arrangements will be made later by R.D. Jones and sons, mortiticians. Pending the hour of the service the body will be at the residence.

Will Smith Jr., Enoree
Will Smith Jr., 79, of No. 1 Furman St., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at National Health Care, Laurens.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Will F. and Mattie Smith. He was a retired textile worker of Riverdale Mills. He as a beloved member of Enoree Baptist Church and the church's Senior Citizens Men's Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Smith of the home; brothers, Gettys Smith of Simpsonville, J.T. Smith and Clifton Smith, both of Enoree; sons, John Smith of Columbia, R.G. Smith of Clinton, and Roy Smith of Enoree; daughters, Barbara Taylor and Teresa Smith, both of Enoree; grandchildren, Philip Smith of Spartanburg, Michelle Smith of Columbia, Bryan Smith of Clinton, Boyd Taylor of Enoree, Amanda Smith of Clinton, and Dylan Taylor of Enoree; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Smith.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Sam and Clarence Smith; and his son, Lawrence Smith.
Visitation will be held tonight, Nov. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Enoree, with the Revs. John Huckaby and Carrol Caldwell officiating. Burial will be held at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Enoree Building Fund.

Obituary: Melvin F. Smith
Melvin Fred Smith, 12-year-old son of J.D. Smith, died last night at the family home 31 East Main street. West Greenville. Thursday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock. He had been ill for the past seven weeks.
In addition to his parents Melvin is survived by three brothers, J.D. Smith, Jr., James Frank Smith and Billie Eugene Smith.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed but announcements will be made later by R.D. Jones and Sons, morticians. the body will remain at the Mortuary until further notice.
